The MS/HS Learning Commons houses over 6,000 print titles for borrowing by students, staff and parents. In addition, almost 900 ebook titles are available to check out. Students and ACS families may search for books in our collection by using the iPads in the Learning Commons or by clicking on the Destiny Catalog button from the website.
The Learning Commons staff curates several online research databases and resources to support student learning. Our vibrant, inviting space includes tables for large-group work as well as seminar rooms and individual seating for small-group collaboration and quiet study.
Students, faculty and staff, and parents may borrow books from the Learning Commons collection. The borrowing time for patrons is 21 days. The borrowing time may be extended one time unless the book is on hold for another patron. Middle School students may borrow up to six books at a time; High School students and parents up to ten. Faculty and staff may borrow up to fifty books for classroom use for a period of 30 days.
Ms. Lori Black is the MS/HS Teacher-Librarian at ACS who works to ensure that students and staff are effective users of information while providing a space for everyone to learn, explore, create and collaborate. Her passion is to inspire in others a love of lifelong learning and reading.
Ms. Kelli Harris is the Learning Commons Specialist for the Middle School and High School. She loves to help students with all sorts of things, including finding a great book to read, borrowing materials, and reserving spaces to study in the LC.
